Back to normal

Well nearly anyway!  Lots of mundane chores today and a little bit of scrapping shopping for my next project in the class I am doing.  The task today was to find a big flower - I had decided I wanted a gerbera and seeing as the page is going to be about me I wanted a pink flower!  Figured it was kind of weird how when I am doing my own thing with nothing boyish about it that I still chose blues as my papers.  I mentioned this to Becky and she challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and try a different colour.  Little does she realise that using a flower in a layout is way outside my comfort zone!

Started sorting through all the pics of our trip and transferring pics I think I want to a different folder.  I picked up an old CK mag and read about several disasters with people losing the digital pics they took and ending up only with the ones they had actually printed.  It has certainly encouraged me to get my butt into gear and sort out some pics.

Goodbyes Suck!

I hate saying goodbye!  We have just had the most wonderful 3 weeks with Kathryn and Mike here.  I know they haven't been with us the whole time but knowing they are in the country was great and knowing they were coming back for the last weekend.

Wow, what a weekend, I am glad they have gone really, because now I can get some sleep again and my brain cells can recover from all the alcohol I have drowned them in over the last couple of days.  I have never met a more funny drunk than Mike, he really had us cracking up big time.

Andy and I had a fight over who was going to get to go down and drop them off at the airport and bring back my car.  I thought I was the lucky one for a bit and then he must have realised that I got to go and pick them up and he was doing the honours at this end - rats!  Doesn't matter how strong you try to be goodbyes when you don't really know when you will see someone again are not easy.

Mind you, it could have been because I was panicking about driving the chev home with the boat on the back.  We made it one piece though and I even managed to back the boat into the shed when we got home.  Girls can do anything!

A "me" day.

Oh yeah!  My back has been aching like crazy lately, not sure if it is muscles or my neck out.  I tried to get an appointment with my osteopath but she is away until next week - bother!  Gotta do something, hmm, maybe a massage will help.  Yeah I reckon it will, so 2pm today and off I go for some major relaxation, yippee, can't wait.

Sitting here at the moment trying to get the books sorted out for the ski club for the meeting next week.  It doesn't help much that I still haven't received all the bills from our tournament held at the end of January.  Don't these people want to get paid??  Aaaagh, frustrations - roll on 2pm.

Finally, some scrapping

Yay, I can't believe it!  I have finally got round to doing some scrapping.  I have been doing plenty of reading about scrapping and collecting supplies but do you think I can get the motivation to actually do something - no way!  Anyway, I signed up for a class at  Big Picture Scrapping. From flustered to focused is the class I am doing and so far it appears to be working. Here is a pic of the front page of the journal we are making.

In other news, Kathryn & Mike, our friends from California called in on their way up north on Monday night, wonderful to see them again and hear what they have seen so far.  They rang a few place to get accommodation in Paihia for the night but everything was full - damn shame they had to stay with us!  After quite a few drinks and lots of lies we sent them on their way.  We get to catch up with them again at the weekend when we have a final weekend together at the Lakes before they head back home.  I can't believe that 3weeks has gone so quickly.

We forgot ...

I can't believe it - we forgot our wedding anniversary!!  We remembered it on Valentines Day but by the time Saturday came round it had completely gone from our heads.  It wasn't until I wrote out a cheque and asked what the date was.  When I was told it was the 18th I said "no way, it can't be!"  Yup it was!  My bloke wondered what was going on when I went up and said you need one of these and gave him a kiss.

Happy 17th Wedding Anniversary to us.

The weekend again!

I really don't know where all these weeks are going.  It seems like only a couple of weeks ago that we headed up to the lake for the Christmas break and already the boys have been at school for 2 weeks.  They are settling in really well especially Ali and Nick with it being their first years at High School and Intermediate - the amount of homework they are getting is certainly a shock to the system though.

We are heading off to the lake again tonight to make the most of the gorgeous weather we are having at the moment.  I will leave you with this pic that Andy took of me sitting on the dock with a glass of bubbles texting pics of the flat calm lake just after our tournament finished.  Hopefully we will end up with another calm weekend.

Reminiscing

Oh man I am missing being on the road so much!!  I decided this morning I had to tidy my computer desk and got stuck in.  I even took a before photo so I could post it here.  Then of course I got sidetracked as did Andy who was working on his laptop.  Next thing I know he is listening to MIKE FM http://www.937mikefm.com/ which is the radio station we really enjoyed when we were in Boston!  We have spent most of the day with this streaming in the background and the memories that have been evoked are amazing.

Amazingly enough the thing that has got to me the most is the memories of how at the end of the day we would all sit round, often with the laptops updating blogs or checking emails or the boys playing a game, a few drinks, listening to the radio and talking!  You know that magical thing that you do when you don't have a TV to distract your attention.  I just mentioned this to Andy about how much fun it was to have that time that we all spent together enjoying the different music and each others company.

I think it is time for a TV free night with Mike FM playing in the background.
