Towels

I went to the gym this morning as is usual after I drop the boys at school.  Dumped my bag, grabbed my headphones and my water bottle, oh no forgot my towel!!  Darn, I am sooo pumped for my workout, do I flag it, or do without and play dumb if the staff catch me without a towel.  Yeah, I reckon the latter and get into it.

Shower time - no towel - bummer - other women "great bods" in the changing room - what do I do? -  Shoes off (playing for time here) - socks stuffed into shoes - lay out change of clothes (will ya hurry up and get outta here) - take of t-shirt - lightbulb moment - I can use my t-shirt to dry off with!! - head to showers trying to hide all the yucky bits from the mirrors - real quick shower - spend 3 times as long drying off with a tiny t-shirt as getting wet (ladies still in changing room) - put my 'g' on and decide to chance it  (why did I wear that today?) - a wet t-shirt doesn't hide much - get into my trou in record time - damn bra straps are all tangled!!! - finally covered and ready to face the world.

My new towel is now packed in my gym bag ready for tomorrow.

Yay, the rain has gone

And what a gorgeous day it turned out to be.  Finally managed to get some laundry done and after 5 days with rain you can imagine how much of that there was!

Heard through the grapevine about a hairdresser that I used to really like and managed to get an appointment with her for today, great to catch up and hear all the news.

Andy went along for his weigh in this morning and came home really peeved.  He had put on 100grams which is not a lot, but after the effort he has put in over the past week, he was sure that he was down a heck of a lot.  A real concerted effort is needed this week and another look at the foods he is allowed, which is not terribly much.

Happy Birthday Nick

My middle boy turned 11 today.  He is an unusual creature is my Nick.  I got a phone call from one of his friends Mums late last night wanting to know about the details for her son to come round today.  Whoops this is the first I have heard of it.  I had suggested to Nick a while ago that we needed to think about this birthday and what he would like to do and let me know so we could organise it.  I forgot to get back to him and he invited his mates round by himself.  So we had a very short notice birthday party this afternoon with the one friend that could come.  I know he has had a wonderful day and is still sitting up as I write.  He doesn't want to go to bed tonight so his birthday will last longer.

Love ya Nick, glad you had a good day.

Bye Bye Wati

I know by the time he got to New Zealand this cyclone had been downgraded but sitting in a caravan at the Lakes at the weekend I rekcon there was still plenty of power left!  Boy did we get wet!  Any chance of running our club champs and the Northland Regional competition were long gone.  Still we have now postponed these until after the Nationals and will hold them the last weekend in April.  Surely Northland won't be too cold to ski in April!

Considering the weather our meeting at the ski club with the local residents went really well and a committee has been formed to decide on the next course of action with pointers from the meeting as a whole.  It was wonderful to make the acquaintance of so many lovely people that we usually only wave to as we drive by.

Ali went for a ski on Friday afternoon when we arrived at the lake and did an incredible hulk on his wetsuit.  This kid has grown so much it isn't funny and after a measuring session tonight I discovered he is a a good inch taller than me.  Geeze an inch in 2weeks, slow down man or nothing will fit you!

My Day

Been to the gym

Weeded the garden and took the trailerload to the tip

Sorted through a whole pile of scrapping supplies

Rang my sister for her birthday today as well as texting her earlier

Dealt to several emails regarding the council meeting from yesterday

Rang lots of local people about coming to the ski club for a planning meeting on Saturday - really good feedback from everyone I spoke to.

Played around online lots and discovered Pandora which is a great music search facility.  You type in the name of a song or artist that you like and it will come back at you with a whole of similar type music.

Reading through all my usual blogs found a really cool t-shirt that I want from Ali Edwards

Sat and soaked in the spa with a glass of bubbles - aaahh bliss!

Council Trials

It has been all hands on deck for the past couple of days.  We heard a rumour on Monday that the local Council was about to pass a motion banning all powered craft on the largest lake in our little group of 3.  That would have meant the only lake available would be the much smaller one that we as a ski club are based at.

The emails have been flying furiously the last couple of days as club members and various locals prepare submissions to tell the Council what we really think.  It all culminated today at the Council meeting where there was a huge turnout of support, especially considering only 2days notice.  Although the threat hasn't completely gone the Council did resolve to defer the matter and reopen public submissions.

A huge bonus that came out of all the public support was meeting some of the people that we consider as our summer neighbours.  A get together at the clubrooms this weekend will see the relationships developed and strengthened, thus providing a much more united body to present to the Council.

I love the way that our Club being made up of so many different people with hugely varying personalities can really pull together in times of need and present the united front.  This is also showing true with the number of people here today with vastly different interests than us and all showing support for a place they hold dear.

My online class

Wow, what an awesome class Evana.  Lunchtime today saw me sitting down to an online class designed and run by Evana and facilitated by Shop and Crop.  Easy instructions and plenty of time to finish things off, and an awesome product kit sent by shop and crop.  Anyway enough raving, here is the layout.

What else happened today?  Went to the gym, tidied/sorted a bunch of scrapping stuff and decided that I really do need to organise myself a much better system of storing my bits so I can access them easily.  Rummaging through everything when I decide I need something is not that much fun even if I do keep discovering things I had forgotten I had.

Cellphones.

Whatever did we do before we all had a cellphone?  Andy took the boys down to Hamilton and Mum and I hit the shops.  We were looking in a scrapping store when I get a text picture of a car from the motor show.  Two can play at this game, I send him back a pic of the shelves in the scrapbook store.  A little later I get a pic of Tommy playing with a machine gun at the NZ Army display  - that is so him.  I sent back a pic of the flat white that was sitting in front of me.  I think I need to scrap our day of communication.

Later on sitting on our hotel balcony with a glass of bubbles checking out the harbour views I texted Kathryn to see what she was up to.  She came back to me saying they were in a limo driving around Hollywood celebrating St Patricks day.  Man, I wanna go back to the States, that sounds like some fun I could get into!

Mum and I had a wonderful day with lots  of shopping and girl talk and no interruptions from the boys - blissful and something we need to do more regularly.

I won!

Yay, the "identify the spot banner competition" that  Evana has been running on her blog.  Check it out she has a fun blog and she is also teaching one of the online scrapping classes that I have enrolled for and will partake in on Monday - can't wait.  My goody bag arrived the other day with all the bits and pieces I will need for the class.

We are having a change of scenery this weekend and heading down to Auckland instead.  We are staying with Mum tonight and Andy and boys are going to dead to Hamilton for the national motor show being held at Mystery Creek.  Mum and I are going to have girls day which will be fun.  The house is full on Saturday night so we will stay at a hotel in Auckland and have a shopping day.  Haven't been to Auckland for a retail therapy trip since we arrived home.

Have a good weekend all.

A losing battle

Yep that is what I am fighting at the moment.  We stood back to back yesterday morning and Ali is now the exact same height as me.  As I am typing this he has probably even passed me.  I guess the days of me calling him "Shorty" are very numbered!  My goodness, this kid is only 13 and at 5feet 5.5inches I am not that short!

Whoever gave this kid permission to grow up so fast!!  It doesn't seem that long ago that he was a helpless little blob that liked to snuggle and keep me up at night.  Now he can do just about everything and gives me lots of cheek!  So long as I don't try to give him a kiss he will even still give really good cuddles.  He really is growing into a really nice, helpful young man.  I guess I don't really mind that he is as tall as me!
