Happy Birthday Nick

My middle boy turned 11 today.  He is an unusual creature is my Nick.  I got a phone call from one of his friends Mums late last night wanting to know about the details for her son to come round today.  Whoops this is the first I have heard of it.  I had suggested to Nick a while ago that we needed to think about this birthday and what he would like to do and let me know so we could organise it.  I forgot to get back to him and he invited his mates round by himself.  So we had a very short notice birthday party this afternoon with the one friend that could come.  I know he has had a wonderful day and is still sitting up as I write.  He doesn't want to go to bed tonight so his birthday will last longer.

Love ya Nick, glad you had a good day.

1 - My eldest turns 11 in April - yep, they are a weird age. For her birthday she wanted to take a few friends to a teppanyaki restaurant our family loves. Great, we thought- a new experience for some of her friends (and easy for us). Then she gets cold feet because the food is a little unusual and they don't really do dessert and what if her friends don't like it? Too, bad, we said, it's a new experience, they'll like that at least. But no - she has settled on Valentines (crap food that they'll all eat!). Mum and Dad are disappointed! (Comment this)
